For starters, do you like my Bible? It is a travel-size Catholic version (contains the deuterocanonical books, or as the Protestants call it, the apocrypha) and it zips up which is pretty nifty as I have HEAPS of holy cards; that way they can stay together and not fall out like if it were a normal book!
So, what is the go with this Bible? I have had it for a few years now, so not as though I'm showing off a new one. The reason is because I have taken the OxyNorm out of my medication box and put them inside it, so each time I go to have one, I must open my Bible, making me think a little more about whether I need it or just crave it! Will be interesting to see how I handle it!
I'm going to follow the N.A steps/traditions as best I can also, read up on the pamphlets, buy some books/literature (as opposed to spending the money on drugs!). I have a subscription to "The Word Among Us", which is a monthly book-style meditative magazine with a reading for each day based on the daily readings as used by the Roman Catholic Church. I also went to mass today where I believe I found quite a lot of strength to get through the day without resorting to getting "off chops" even though it was well within reach of doing so!
Can't wait to get the N.A book with daily readings in that also... gives you a topic to ponder over during the day (had a flip through one at the meeting last night).
Next meeting is "Steps & Traditions" on Tuesday, which shall be interesting... not sure what exactly happens there - I know it's not an "I.D" so I don't get up saying "I'm Davie, I'm an addict etc;". Strange because before I went I always wondered what they say at N.A. At A.A we all know they say "I'm (your name) and I'm an alcoholic".... I was starting to think perhaps "...and I'm a narcotic" - but no, that is soooo not right! I am a human being, not a drug! LOL.
